On October 26, 2025, Taal Volcano in Batangas experienced a series of minor eruptions. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded one phreatic explosion at 2:55 a.m. and two phreatomagmatic eruptions at 8:13 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. These events produced plumes rising between 1,200 and 2,100 meters above the Main Crater.
Phivolcs explained that phreatic eruptions occur when water interacts with hot volcanic materials, producing steam plumes without magma, while phreatomagmatic eruptions involve magma mixing with water, generating steam, ash, and fragmented materials.
Despite the activity, Alert Level 1 remains in effect, meaning βlow-level unrestβ with no imminent hazardous eruption expected. However, Phivolcs warned of possible sudden explosions, volcanic earthquakes, ashfall, and dangerous gas accumulations. The public is advised to avoid Taal Volcano Island, especially the Main Crater and Daang Kastila fissure, and surrounding communities are urged to stay vigilant.
